How to choose an IBJJF approved BJJ gi

Start with how often you train and whether you compete. For three or more sessions a week, the Classic is the safe choice: 500 GSM cotton single weave, a seamless back and reinforced stress points. Competitors who want a jacket that is hard to grip choose the Mundial 10, with Atama's exclusive 600 GSM weave and Military Rip-Stop pants. If you weigh in with your gi on or train in a hot gym, the Ultra Light weighs about 1.2 kg in size A2. The Infinity Colab is made to carry your team's and sponsors' patches.

Atama sizing differs from other brands, so check the height and weight table on our size chart even if you know your size elsewhere. Cotton gis can shrink slightly after the first wash, so wash cold and hang to dry. For weaves, weights and fit in more detail, read our BJJ gi buying guide.

Are all Atama gis IBJJF approved?

Yes. Every Atama kimono we sell is approved by the IBJJF for competition, so you can train and compete in the same gi.

What is the difference between the Classic and the Mundial 10?

The Classic has a 500 GSM single weave jacket and cotton pants: lighter, softer and made for everyday training. The Mundial 10 uses Atama's exclusive 600 GSM weave with Military Rip-Stop pants and is built for competition.

I fit two sizes on the chart. Which one should I order?

Send us your height and weight, or write them in the order note at checkout, and we will help you choose. If the size is still wrong, we send the new size free of charge.

How quickly do you ship from Portugal?

Orders placed Monday to Friday before 3pm are usually dispatched the same day. Estimated delivery times for each country are on our shipping page.
